The mission of East Ridge Elementary PTA is to enrich, encourage, and enlighten. We do this through providing a wide spectrum of educational programs and a network of support for both our students and our staff.
The ERPTA provides essential funding, programs, services, and insurance beyond what is provided the by the Northshore School District. These members work tirelessly to ensure that East Ridge is a great place for all students and families!

Responsible for the operations of the PTA in accordance with the WA State PTA Uniform Bylaws and the PTA Standing Rules. Presides at all executive, board of director and general PTA meetings. Responsible for the operations of the PTA in accordance with the WA State PTA Uniform Bylaws and the PTA Standing Rules. Presides at all executive, board of director and general PTA meetings. Meets regularly and works closely with the principal and school. Fills vacancies on the board and in other volunteer positions, with input from executive committee. Communicates with, supports and empowers PTA volunteers. Ensures that PTA books are audited mid-year and at year-end.
Assists the president in with all PTA responsibilities. Will stand in if the president is unavailable or in the event the president steps down.
Performs all financial accounting of the PTA including its membership fees and program profits. Signs checks and receives deposits according to the approved yearly budget. Presents a proposed budget for approval at the May General Meeting and closes the books at the end of each year. Files tax returns and other government forms.
Takes notes for all PTA meetings. Secures PTA room reservations with the school district. Sends email reminders for Executive Committee and Board of Directors meetings and catalogs all of the meeting minutes in notebooks. Is familiar with the Standing Rules for the PTA in case of questions and keeps the notebook with all the legal documents readily accessible.
Manages and updates ERPTA social media and website. Sends out items to be included in the East Ridge newsletter. Assigns and manages ERPTA email forwards for the ERPTA Board/Committee.
Works with other members of the PTA to plan and execute several school wide social events throughout the year such as Fall Festival, Art Walk and others. Planning involves working with the PTA Secretary and office staff to set dates and reserve the facilities, in addition to working with the volunteer coordinator to arrange for help before, during and after events are held.
Fundraising works to develop and plan fundraising activities, working to build relationships and explore new fundraising ideas.
Manages the Art Docent volunteers and is in contact with the needs and schedules of the teachers. Keeps an inventory of the art supplies. Plans cleaning and organizing meetings for the art supplies. Oversees the general training and arc of the Art Docent Program at East Ridge. Assists VP of events in planning the Art Walk in May.
Works with the committee to set a yearly membership goal. Plans membership campaigns and prepares campaign materials. Arranges and advertises any membership benefits.
Works with staff to find out inclusivity needs. Plans events (such as cultural night, where families share food and presentations about their background) that help bring awareness and visibility to the diverse backgrounds of ALL our students and families.

Uses the Scholastic Book Fair model/theme of the year to facilitate the purchase of books for students. Works closely with the librarian to see how to use the library, school, and online outreach to best engage buyers.
Keeps an inventory of our E-Prep shed and order anything that needs replenishing. Make sure staff and volunteers are aware of emergency awareness plans.
Plan activities that help kids learn and appreciate the art of horticulture. Staffs and plans monthly or bi-monthly Wednesday Weeder events. Plans and purchases (using PTA funds) plants and foliage to enrich the beauty of East Ridge.
Cynthia also manages the Reflections program at East Ridge.
Northshore School Foundation Ambassadors help maintain a collaborative and mutually beneficial relationship between NSD schools and their PTA’s.
Finds a volunteer crew to take pictures of students throughout the year, particularly big events and assemblies. Compile pictures and helps facilitate the ordering and distribution of yearbooks.
Coordinates the planning and performance of the annual spring Musical/School Play.
The Staff Appreciation role is responsible for giving back to the staff in various ways to show our appreciation for all that they do. Activities have included, but are not limited to the Back to School Luncheon, Staff Appreciation Week, and monthly tokens such as gifts, treats, or a potluck.
Finds 2 volunteers to help facilitate as judges and pronouncers at each Spelling Bee. Uses the state-provided Spelling Bee format to run 3 spelling bee events that match the region deadlines. Helps the children move to regionals if that applies.
Coordinates the materials and finds volunteers to help run grade level book club meetings during lunch recess. Each grade level group meets bi-weekly for 5 sessions.
Responsible for demonstrating leadership on children's issues at the local level by
educating PTA members, community members, and elected officials about PTA's issues of concern and legislative priorities. Can attend PTA Legislative Assembly and vote as a PTA delegate.
Organizes student guidelines for STEAM projects and presentations. Manages registrations and set-up needs. Works with a committee to select interactive elements, participation awards, and outside guests.
